1.Streptomyces-Filamentous group of bacterial organisms that includes over 500 different species living mainly in soil and water.
ORGIN- Streptomyces comes from the Latin word STREPTO meaning twisted, and the Greek word MUKES meaning fungus
2.Domain-a specified sphere of activity or knowledge
3.Phylum-a principal taxonomic (identification of organisms and systems) category that ranks above class and below kingdom
4.Genus-a group of organisms having common characteristics distinct from those of another group of organisms
5. Family-a principal taxonomic category that ranks above genus and below order
6.Order- a principal taxonomic category that ranks below class and above family
7. Gram stain- A technique used to identify bacteria in which a violet dye is applied to the bacteria, following a decolorizing agent, and then a red dye. After the process is completed, if the cell wall of the bacteria retains the violet color, it is gram-positive, if it is red, then it is gram-negative.
ORGIN- named after Hans C. Gram, a 19th century Danish physician who created the method.
8.Spore- A rounded resistant structure developed by a bacterium in harsh conditions
